The Foundation had more than 10.5-million followers across all social media platforms by the end of the reporting period and continued to grow its following on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube.
The Foundation continued to grow the online resources through news and information, searchable databases, digitised hard copy and moving images as well as social media material.
We remain focussed on mobile access for all digital resources.
The Mandela Quotes App was launched. The app, based on our book Nelson Mandela By Himself: The Authorised Book of Quotations, allows searchable access to all Mandela’s quotes which can be shared on social media platforms. The Foundation also partnered with South African Tourism to develop the mobile app In the Footsteps of Nelson Mandela.
The Foundation's virtual exhibition on the Google Cultural Institute continued to be maintained and updated. The online version of the permanent exhibition was launched with text, audio, photography and moving images.
The digitisation of the 46664 archive was initiated. All the material in the archive will be catalogued and preserved. Funding was secured from the Australian government for the project.
The website has established itself as the first port of call for reliable and accurate information on the life and times of Nelson Mandela.
The ICT infrastructure continued to be developed and maintained with software and hardware upgrades. New laptop computers for all staff were donated by Hewlett Packard.
